Spring Clean Up this Friday and Saturday

      Springville Spring Clean-Up 2014
This weekend is the final week for Spring Clean-Up – Friday, April 25th and Saturday, April 26th.  Residents are encouraged to clean their yards, sweep gutters and sidewalks and do their best to improve yards and neighborhoods.  Owners of vacant lots are encouraged to clear their lots of garbage, tall weeds and other debris.  This event will be held to promote com…munity beautification through volunteers working together.   This is a great opportunity for scout groups, church groups, and other volunteer organizations to serve in their community.
Please use the coupon included in the April City Newsletter to take unwanted items to the South Utah Valley Solid Waste District (SUVSWD) between April 18th and May 31st (good for the standard $8.00 load).  All loads must be covered.
The Compost Facility is also open to accept yard waste, located at 500 W 700 N, Tuesday – Saturday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm.  They also have a dumpster for scrap metal.
The Public Works department in cooperation with SUVSWD will provide Dumpsters throughout the City April 25th and 26th at the following parks:
      • Spring Creek Park 475 E 600 N • Memorial Park 500 E 200 S • Child Park 200 S 1300 E • Hobble Creek Park 2200 E 1250 S • Big Hollow Park 350 E 2200 S • Kelvin Grove Park 1400 W 1600 S • Art Wing Park 155 N 950 W

      FEMA Floodplain Meeting Tonight

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is in the process of updating the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for areas of Utah County. In conjunction with this effort FEMA developed a revised floodplain for Springville City. The revised maps may impact your property. If this map is adopted by FEMA, you may be required to purchase flood insurance.

A Public Open House will be held on April 23, 2014 from 5 – 7 PM with a short presentation at 6 PM at the High Chaparral building, 475 Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. During this meeting the revised FEMA maps will be discussed and those in attendance will have an opportunity to ask questions about the impacts the new maps will have on their property.

A web viewer has been created to show the preliminary data and changes since the last FIRM data map was published in the early1980’s. Please visit the web viewer:http://maps.springville.org/floodmap.

We hope that you are able to attend the meeting where these maps and your options as an affected property owner will be described in more detail. Please visit www.floodsmart.gov for further National Flood Insurance information, or contact the FEMA map information eXchange at 877 336-2627 (877 FEMA MAP).
