Mayor’s Message

Winter 2024

As we usher in the new year, I am filled with gratitude for this wonderful community. Many of you are already aware of the results of the Municipal Election, and I want to take a moment to officially recognize the outgoing and incoming Springville City Council members.

I want to thank Liz Crandall, Chris Sorensen, and Jason Miller for their service. Liz served for four years as a first-time council member and helped lead the City through the COVID-19 pandemic. Both Chris and Jason served for two years and had served on the Council before. Chris has been elected four separate times, beginning in 1992, and has served on the Springville City Council for more time than any other person, with 14 years under his belt.

Under their stewardship, Springville accomplished important things! We moved the Springville Fire Department to full-time status. We added new recreation and art programs, concerts, and City festivals. We made improvements to Hobble Creek to prevent and mitigate flooding. We designed and developed the City’s future through master plans. We laid the ground work for new developments, the 1600 South Interchange, the Westfields Central Park, and an incredible bike park. The list goes on and on.

We are excited to welcome our three new Council members – Mindi Wright, Jake Smith, and Logan Millsap. While they will bring fresh ideas and perspectives, our aim as the Mayor and Council has been, and will continue to be, understanding and involving our residents, and doing our best to make decisions that reflect the desires of the community. As always, we encourage you to get involved. Come to our meetings, seek out City information through our many platforms, and reach out to us through our email addresses, which are available at springville.org.
