Utah County is allowing evacuated residents to return to their homes in the Hobble Creek, Springville, and Mapleton areas at noon today. Whiting Campground will remain closed on a Forest Service Closure. The areas will be placed on “pre-evacuation” status.

Additionally, the County wants to stress that conditions can change rapidly and will be monitored continuously.

It started raining at about 2:00 am and put out a lot of the fire. The morning briefing about the fire was positive. There are still some hot spots but things are looking really good. The evacuation order may be lifted soon.

10:00 pm
Evacuation is ongoing for all residents in Hobble Creek Canyon. The rodeo grounds are open for large animals and trailers. Red Cross is at the evacuation center (495 S Canyon). All morning tee times have been notified of possible closure. Structure protection is in place for all buildings south of Canyon Road. Unified fire has been established between Springville, Mapleton, and Utah County.

8:30 pm
All of Hobble Creek Canyon is being evacuated. The church building at 495 South Canyon Road has been opened as an evacuation center.

7:50 pm
The Ether Hollow Fire has necessitated evacuations in the Grindstone and Jolley’s Ranch areas.
