Water Boil Advisory

Springville City Water Boil Advisory – CANCELLATION

Drinking water sample test results from a State approved testing lab show no harmful bacterial contamination of the Springville City drinking water system.
These drinking water samples were taken immediately after it was discovered that a City water tank had been broken into.
As a precaution, water samples were taken at predetermined locations in the City and remitted to the State approved testing lab for analysis.
All current evidence indicates that the water yesterday did, and still does meet State drinking water standards. Based on the test results received, the drinking water is safe for human consumption.
If you have further questions, please call (801) 489-2700 during regular business hours.

Springville City Issues Citywide Water Boil Advisory

Springville City is issuing a water boil advisory for portions of the City (see attached map).

One of Springville City’s water tanks was found vandalized, and golf balls have been identified in the tank. As a result, the City is taking this incident seriously and issuing a boil advisory. All water is disinfected with chlorine as it enters the tank, so the degree of contamination appears to be minimal.

We advise you to use bottled water, if possible. If using your City-provided drinking water, bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to use for cooking, drinking, or cleaning food contact equipment. Use this link to review the state’s guidelines during a boil advisory: https://documents.deq.utah.gov/drinking-water/field-services/DDW-2018-002758.pdf

The City discovered this issue mid-morning of Friday, April 3, 2020. Once discovered, the City isolated the affected water tank. Water sample test results have been taken and should be available on Saturday, April 4, 2020, in the afternoon.

Test results will determine whether the boil advisory can be lifted, or additional precautions should be taken.

The City will update you as we learn more. Thank you for your cooperation. For more information, please call (801) 489-2700.

Anyone with information on the act of vandalism should contact the Springville Police Department at (801) 489-9421.
