This week will be our After School program “Recess at the Library!” Are your kids bored being stuck inside this winter? Come play, eat, and learn how to have recess in your own house. Make sure to sign up at the Children’s desk and then join us here for lots of fun! Grades K-2nd will be Wednesday, Jan 30th at 4:00pm, and Grades 3rd-6th will be Thursday, Jan 31st at 4:00pm.
Don’t forget that Saturday, Feb 2nd is “Bring Your Child to the Library Day!” We’ll have a special story time at 10:30am, and a scavenger hunt that you can do as a family anytime during the day.
Have you entered our Nifty Fifty contest? You still have a few more days….You have until January 31st to show us your library receipts totaling 50 books to be entered in the drawing for a pizza dinner for your family!

On Monday, January 14th at 7:00pm, we’ll have Bedtime Stories – Night at the Library! Bring the whole family plus your favorite stuffed animal. Don’t forget to wear your pjs!
Tuesday, January 15th at noon will be our Books & Bites Adult Book Club. Join reference librarian Sheri Britsch in the conference room for this month’s discussion of The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis.
Thursday, Jan 17th at 7:00pm will be So You Want to Read Chekhov. If you’ve never read Chekhov, don’t worry! Join Margy Layton and her guest – UVU English professor Larry Harper – to get you inspired!
We will also have 2 Teen events this week – both on Friday, January 18th.
At 4:00pm, we’ll have a Teen Film Making Workshop called Ready, Set, Action! Come learn cool new software and meet artist and animator Ryan Woodward. Then Teen Night will start at 6:30pm and will include gaming, D & D, the movie Ice Age: Continental Drift, and making snow globes.
Monday, January 21st the library will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr Day.

Join us on Wednesday, January 9th at 7:00pm for another evening with the ladies from the USU Extension Food $ense program. Raven & Lindsay will be talking about “Cooking with Kamut & Teff”. Kamut is a type of wheat that has a great flavor and gives the illusion of refined flour in recipes. Great for many things, including making fresh homemade pasta!Teff is a colorful Gluten-free grain that is chock full of Calcium. It is delicious in many recipes, especially in homemade flat bread. Whether or not you are familiar with these two ingredients, come enjoy a healthy cooking class which will include new recipes and samples!
On Thursday, January 10th at 7:00pm, we’ll have another Mother-Daughter Book Club. This month’s book is Rules. Come for a fun evening of discussion, crafts, and treats!
