We hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!

Besides all of our normally scheduled kids’ programs, we have two extra classes this week:

Our Mother-daughter book club will be Thursday, November 1st at 7:00pm.  Girls ages 8 & up are invited to attend with mom or another adult.  Come to discuss the book Palace Beautiful and enjoy crafts and treats!

This week will also be the first of a three-part class “A Time to Mourn; A Time to Move Forward”.  Have you recently lost a loved one?  Janis Johnson, LCSW, from Authentic Turning Points, will lead these three interactive classes supporting the grieving process.  Join Janis at 1:00pm in the library’s multi-purpose room on the first three Thursdays of November: November 1st, 8th, & 15th.

We have a busy week here at the library! Besides all of our regularly scheduled children’s programs, join us for these special events this week:

Books & Bites will be Tuesday, October 16th at noon in our Board Room.  Join librarian Dona Gay in a discussion of For the Love of the Game by Michael Shaara.  Our November book – Song of Solomon – will be available to check out anytime after this meeting so make sure and stop at the adult reference desk and get a copy.

Our kids’ after school program – “Spooky Mad Science” – will be Wednesday and Thursday.  Wednesday, October 17th at 4pm will be for kids grades K-2nd, while older kids grades 3rd-6th are invited to come on Thursday, October 18th at 4pm.

Thursday, October 18th will be another class of our on-going series “So You Want to Read”.  Join Margy Layton and her guest – Virlie Westwood – at 7pm for “So You Want to Read Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own and other writers’ books about writing.” You don’t have to be afraid of Virginia Woolf or writing! Come learn what classic and contemporary authors have shared about how they approach their craft.

Then on Friday, October 19th, we’ll have our Avengers Teen Night.  Beginning at 6:30pm, all teens can come for the movie, Avenger duct tape creations, Dungeons & Dragons, games and treats.

What a fun week! We’ll see you and your family here at the Springville Library!

Please remember that the library will be closed on Monday, October 8th for Columbus Day.  We will reopen on Tuesday, October 9th at 10am.

Make sure to join us on Wednesday, October 10th for our “Fall Foods” nutrition class.  Beginning at 7pm, Raven Albertson & Lindsay McRae from USU Extension’s Food $ense program will give us great ideas on how to make some our favorite fall dishes healthier. Come for great recipes, new ideas about healthy eating, and great samples!
