October is here already, and we have lots of fun events planned for the library this month! Have you used our on-line calendar before? Just click on any date, and a drop-down box will appear listing all the events that are scheduled for that day.
You will want to make sure and plan on coming to our nutrition class at 7:00pm on Wednesday, October 10th. Raven Albertson and Lindsay McRae from USU Extension’s Food $ense Program will have a fun class on “Fall Favorites”. Come get some great recipes and ideas for making all of your fall recipes healthier!
And make sure you reserve the evening of Thursday, October 25th. Beginning at 7:00pm, we’ll have a concert on our second floor from the group Musica Antiqua. Musica Antiqua is a group of musicians from all over Utah County, including several BYU professors, who come together to perform Medieval, Baroque, and Renaissance music on period instruments.
Did you know that we have an adult book club here at the library? Called Books & Bites, this group meets the third Tuesday of each month at noon in our Board Room upstairs. Sheri Britsch, our reference librarian, leads the discussion. You can find the current discussion book on display at the adult information desk. Just sign up on the list and check out a copy of the book.
Are your kids ready to meet Captain Underpants? Make sure and bring them to our After School program either Wednesday (for grades K-2nd) or Thursday (for grades 3rd-6th). These programs start at 4:00pm, and your kids won’t want to miss out on the fun.
Did you know that at the end of October, we will have been in our beautiful new building for one year? We are planning a week-long birthday party October 18th – 27th to help us celebrate, so watch for our author/illustrator day, “Friends of the Library” book sale, Musica Antiqua concert, a Halloween party Family Night, and much more. We’ll have more information coming, but here are some of those dates so you can get them on your calendar!

We have lots of fun events this week at the library!
Tuesday, September 18th will be Books & Bites Book Club at noon. Join our reference librarian, Sheri Britsch, for a lively discussion of The Bread Givers by Anzia Yezierska. Next month’s book will be For the Love of the Game by Michael Shaara. It will be available at our adult information desk beginning Tuesday afternoon.
Thursday, September 20th will be “So You Want to Read Shakespeare” at 7:00pm in our multi-purpose room. Join Margy Layton and her guest BYU Associate Professor Bruce Young. He will explore the works of the English playwright and poet.
On Thursday, September 20th, we will also have our Mother-Daughter Book Group at 7:00pm. This month’s book isThe Sister’s Club by Megan McDonald, and we will a fun discussion and projects centered around the book.
And teens won’t want to miss our “Back to School Bling” Teen Night on Friday, September 21st at 6:30pm. The movie will be Freaky Friday, and we’ll have a Super Smash tournament.
Our Family Night at the library is Monday, September 10th at 6:30pm. Bring the whole family, wear your pjs, and get ready for lots of fun at our “Family Night with a Fire Fighter!”
Plan on coming Wednesday, September 12th at 7:00pm for our nutrition class. After taking a break for the summer, we are excited to welcome back the USU Extension’s Food $ense ladies – Raven Albertson and Lindsay McRae. Join Raven and Lindsay as they teach ideas and recipes for healthy eating. They will join us the second Wednesday of each month so make sure and add their class into your calendar. This month’s topic is – “Soup & Sauces: Create dozens of recipes from one healthy and $$-saving basic mix.” It is sure to be an information-filled (& yummy!) class!
And of course we continue with all of our weekly classes for kids! If you need to check times and ages for those, scroll down through this blog or else look at our online calendar. You can click on the date, and the events for that day will pop up.
Did you know that you can renew items online? Click on the green box that says “My Account” on our homepage. Then enter your library card number (It’s that long number under the barcode on your card) and your pin (Your pin is the last four digits of your phone number). That will let you see the items you have out and their due dates. Hit the “renew” button and the new due date will appear.
