Water Aerobics

Monday-Friday Morning Water Aerobics, $3.25 drop in per class, $38.50 per month

6:30- 7:30 am

Rentals

Must have at least 50-200 people to rent the facility for a private party. Pool is available Saturday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. $70 for 2 hours plus $2 per person (minimum charge of $170). This fee will get you exclusive use of the pool and the lobby plus 3 or more lifeguards.

 

Parties

Schedule your birthday party at the pool during Open Public Swim hours! Groups of 10 or more. You can rent our birthday room for $20 for the first hour and $10 per hour after that to eat cake, drink punch, and open presents!

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Class (31 hours)  


Must be at least 15 yr. old by last day of class.
$95, register online at www.springville.org ($10 additional non-resident fee may be required) 
March 1-13 
Mondays and Wednesdays: 5-9 pm, Saturdays 8 am-5 pm 


April 2-10
F (4-2): 5-9pm, Sat (4-3): 8a-5p, M/W/F (4-5, 4-7, 4-9): 5-9pm, Sat (4-10): 8a-5p

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5-9 pm, Saturdays 8 am-5 pm 


Must bring own Lifeguard Training Book, resuscitation mask, Training First Aid Kit, pencil and paper. Class materials can be purchased at the pool for $61.  Will be American Red Cross certified in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer with completion of course; must pass written and practical exams. All classes are MANDATORY for certification.   


Water Safety Instructor Class (31 hours):


Must be at least 16 yr. old by last day of class.

Must bring own Water Safety Instructor’s Manual, FIT participant’s manual, pencil and paper.  Materials can be purchased at the Springville Pool or at the local American Red Cross chapter in Provo. Must pass swim test on first day to continue with class. Will be an authorized American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor with completion of course; must pass written and practical exams.

Additional Lesson Information:

  • Please sign your child up for the group level you believe that they are according to level criteria found at the end of the Pool Section.
  • Skill assessment and class assignmentwill be completed during the first 15 minutes of the 1st day of the session that you sign up for.
  • No make-ups will be provided for late or absent students from class. If a make-up day is necessary due to a conflict with the pool, it will be on a Friday during the session and scheduled by the teacher. 
  • You will be signing up for a session date and a lesson time; please plan accordingly.  You may sign up for more than one session.

Springville Pool cannot give refunds for swimming lessons.


American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Outlines


Parent and Me 
Designed for children 6 months to 3 years of age, the program builds swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water. Parents/caregivers and children participate in several guided practice sessions that help children learn elementary skills, including water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, and underwater exploration. Once children can perform basic skills without parental assistance, they may begin Learn-to-Swim. One parent/caregiver per child is required.


Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills 
Purpose: Help students feel comfortable in the water.
 
Basic water safety rules, swimming on front and back, using arm and leg actions using a life jacket,  recognizing a swimmer in distress and getting help, submerging mouth, nose and eyes, exhaling underwater, opening eyes underwater and picking up submerged object, floating on front and back. 3 yrs. & up.


Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills 
Purpose: Give students success with fundamental skills.
 
Moving in the water while wearing a life jacket, recognizing a swimmer in distress and getting help, submerging entire head, bobbing in water, front and back glide, jellyfish float, treading water using arm and leg motions, swimming using combined stroke on front and back.  3 yrs. & up.


Level 3: Stroke Development 
Purpose: Build on fundamental skills by providing additional guided practice. 
Reaching assist, kneeling or standing dive (shallow dive progression), submerging and retrieving an object, rotary breathing in horizontal position, front and back glide, survival float, back float, front and back crawl, butterfly-kick and body motion.  3yrs. & up.


Level 4: Stroke Improvement 
Purpose: Develop confidence in the strokes learned and improve other aquatic skills. 
Safe diving rules, throwing assist, dive from stride position or shallow dive, feet-first surface dive, survival float, back float, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly.  5 yrs. & up.


Level 5: Stroke Refinement 
Purpose: Provide further coordination and refinement of strokes. 
Survival swimming, performing rescue breathing, standing dive (diving progression), tuck surface dive and pike surface dive, open turns on front and back, front flip turn and backstroke flip turn, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, sidestroke.  5 yrs. & up.


Level 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency  
Purpose: Refines the strokes so students swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances.
 
Participants will work on refining previously learned strokes and skills.  5 yrs. & up
