R. Leon Fredrickson has been hired to serve as City Power Director.

Springville, Utah - City Administrator Troy Fitzgerald announced today that R. Leon Fredrickson has been hired to serve as the City’s Power Director. Mr. Fredrickson replaces Cal Baxter who retired. Mr. Fredrickson has been with the Springville City Electric Department since 1983. Most recently he has been serving as the Distribution Superintendent. He graduated from Utah Technical College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Lineman Technology in 1984 and brings great experience and expertise to this important position. “I’m excited to continue serving the electrical customers of Springville city. I will be working with a very professional staff that will continue to plan and provide for reliable and safe electric service to all of Springville’s customers,” Mr. Fredrickson said.

He and his wife, Deborah, have been members of the Springville Community for the past 23 years. They have been married for 26 years and are the proud parents of 6 children, 2 boys and 4 girls ranging in ages from 26 to 8. They are thrilled to have become grandparents recently when their first grandson was born on election day a couple of weeks ago! “Springville City is fortunate to have a long term employee with outstanding qualifications to take this important position serving the community,” said City Administrator Troy Fitzgerald. Mr. Fredrickson begins his new position immediately.

Troy K. Fitzgerald has been appointed to serve as Springville City Administrator.

Springville, Utah - Mayor Gene Mangum announced today that Troy K. Fitzgerald has been appointed to serve as Springville City Administrator. Fitzgerald replaces Layne Long who resigned several weeks ago. The Mayor recommended Fitzgerald for the position at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting

Troy Fitzgerald has worked for the City of Springville since 1998 as the City Attorney. In addition to his responsibilities as City Attorney, Troy has acted as the City’s Personnel Director and Risk Manager since 2000. As City Administrator, he hopes to increase communication with the community and assist the Mayor and Council in planning for the future of the City of Springville.

Troy was raised in Somers, New York but discovered deep roots in Springville upon moving here in 1993 - he is a direct descendent of Springville pioneers. He has a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Asian Studies from Brigham Young University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.

Troy worked briefly for Lederle Laboratories, Mrs. Fields Inc., and Consolidated Edison of New York before working eight years with the local law firm of Young & Kester. At Young & Kester, he worked on a variety of cases before focusing on corporations, contracts and real estate.

Troy lives in town and is dedicated to the citizens of Springville. He and his wife, Michelle, have four active children. “The entire City Council, along with myself, have a great deal of confidence in Troy,” Said Mayor Mangum. “His experience and his commitment to Springville City make him a vital asset on our staff.” Fitzgerald has been serving as interim City Administrator for the last few weeks, his appointment is effective immediately.
