Max Knight Substation…

Springville, Utah - Tuesday, June 6th, the City Council voted unanimously to rename the City’s electric facility currently known as the West Substation to the Max Knight Substation. Power Board members and City staff recommended the name change to honor Max Knight for his long time service to the City of Springville and specifically for his many years of service on the Power Board.

Mr. Knight is well known to Springville residents and admired for a lifetime of community service. Prior to his term on the Power Board, he served 2 terms as a Council member from 1980 to 1988. He has been, and continues to be, heavily involved in the Kiwanis Club, the Springville Playhouse and in local church activities. Max’s wife, Colleen, and various family members were present at the Council meeting. Mayor Gene Mangum complimented Mr. Knight on his family and also commented on the contributions of his son, Jay Knight, who recently finished his second term as a City Council member. Each Council member added their own tribute and personal experiences with Mr. Knight.

“I’m grateful for this honor,” Mr. Knight said, “I have a love for the power program and the people that administer and take care of it.” He added that he appreciated living in Springville and counted it a privilege to raise his family here and to serve the citizens.
