NEW ELECTRIC AND WATER RATE STRUCTURE TO BE ESTABLISHED
(The current PCA may finally be going away)

At the May 17, 2005 City Council, meeting presentations will be made regarding new proposed rate structures for both electricity and water. The Mayor and City Council invite your attendance at this meeting to give your input. The purpose of the new electric rate structure is not to increase power rates, but to eliminate the current power cost adjustment (PCA), keep the rates constant for average users, provide a tiered rate structure (similar to what Utah Power and Light charges) that impacts the residential customers who are high users of power, and provides a mechanism so that customers can manage their power bill and reduce their cost through power conservation measures. The purpose of the new water rate structure is to develop water rates that encourage conservation. The goal is to keep our water rate (which is one of the lowest around) at a constant rate for low end and average users and established a tiered rate structure for the high users of water during the summer.
